Many air travel passengers' hopes today lie with air taxi companies like DayJet who are offering a cost effective “per-seat, on-demand” private jet service that utilizes the revolutionary very light jet aircraft from Eclipse Aviation – the Eclipse 500. The air taxi service is an innovative air travel solution that is the answer to a commercial airline transportation system relatively unchanged for 30 years.

Founded in 2002, DayJet is the first company to introduce private jet air taxi service. The compnay relies on the Eclipse 500, a cost effective very light jet aircraft. DayJet received thier first three Eclipse 500 aircraft at the end of March 2007.

The success of DayJet requires the company to be efficient on the operations side while sufficiently marketing the air taxi concept. Consumers may be anxious for an alternative to commercial airlines; however, getting them used to spending a little more money may take some time. Luckily for DayJet the founders, Ed and Nancy Iacobucci, are seasoned entrepreneurs who founded and built Citrix Systems into a $6 Billion dollar company. In fact, DayJet just closed a $50 million private equity investment round in March of 2007. This certainly indicates that there are deep pockets available to put DayJet.

DayJet spent five years on market research and developing their business model to ensure that their air taxi service is efficient and delivers a value to their customers. The value proposition for DayJet is not just the efficiency of air travel via private jet, no security lines, lost luggage or layover hours, but also the significant economic impact on local communities and their airports.

Interior Wall

The per-seat, on-demand business model proposed by DayJet provides short jet trips to local community airports via private jets without having to rent or charter the entire jet aircraft.   Thus DayJet has combined the per seat business model of the commercial airline market with the flexibility and efficiency of a private jet charter service with direct flights and executive airport access; thus avoiding the masses at the commercial terminal. Of course, with the very light jet Eclipse 500 aircraft DayJet can also offer a per-plane, on-demand service as well if you are traveling with a small group of people for business or leisure.
