A+ Rewards
Phone: 1-888-327-5878
Overview:
The A+ Rewards program from AirTran Airways is a unique frequent flyer program that is based on credits rather than miles. Two credits are equal to one round trip flight segment, so the system is based on the number times that you fly. The
You can also earn A+ Rewards credits through the A+ Rewards Visa card and Hertz rental cars. The following charter outlines your earning methods:
Earning Methods Credits
One-way AirTran Airways flight 1
One-way Business Class bonus 0.5
A+ Visa card first use 6
A+ Visa card purchase of AirTran travel 2 per $1,000 spent
All other A+ Visa card purchases 1 per $1,000 spent
Hertz rental of 4 days or less 0.5
Hertz rental of 5 days or more 1
**Credits expire one year after their posting date as indicated in your online account rewards summary.
The A+ Rewards provides free roundtrip coach seats after sixteen roundtrip flights, which may seen like a lot of flying but if you are only flying on a regional basis around the Southeast then it can really pay off. Here are the rewards:
Rewards Credits Required
- One-way Business Class upgrade 4
- One-way Coach ticket 8
- One-way Business Class ticket 16
- Round-trip Coach ticket on another airline
- in the contiguous 48 US states 32
- Round-trip Coach ticket on another airline
- between the 48 US states & AK, HI, Canada, Mexico 50
- Round-trip Coach ticket on another airline
- anywhere else in the world 100
- Free annual companion pass 100
- 3 Business roundtrips = 1 free* one-way coach ticket
- 4 coach roundtrips = 1 free* one-way coach ticket
The main issue with this credit system, however, is the fact that you could fly 6.42 roundtrips from Atlanta to Los Angeles on Delta and qualify for a free coach roundtrip ticket (Continental US) while you will still need two more roundtrips from AirTran. This system seems to be more suited for low mile regional air travel. |
