The Citation Mustang is the first very light jet to be certified by the FAA, in September of 2006, and is the latest aircraft to be released from the Cessna stable of small business jets. The Cessna Mustang hits the market with a price tag of $2.65 M and has already garnered over 250 backorders, a backlog to be manufactured through 2009. Cessna plans to deliver 40 Citation Mustang jets in 2007 and another 100 aircraft in 2008. In 2006, Cessna Aircraft delivered 307 Citation business jet aircraft.
The Cessna Mustang jet is similar in size to the Cessna Citation CJ1 jet aircraft; however, the Mustang jet cabin is 42 cubic feet smaller than the Citation CJ1 jet. The Citation Mustang jet is outfitted with to Pratt & Whitney 615F turbofan engines that are certified at 1,460 lbs of thrust each. The Citation Mustang jet has a range of 1,150 nautical miles and is designed to be a cost efficient business jet.
